Student Presentations
While in Normandy, each student gave a presentation orally to the rest of the Normandy Scholars. Michael Shimek's presentation was on combat leadership with an emphasis on the history related to his home state: the presentation involved the Coxswains on Higgins Boats. Higgins Boats were invented by Andrew Higgins from Nebraska. The Coxswain's responsibility was to maneuver the craft through the waters and deliver the troops to the beach safely. Once they had delivered the troops, he was required to retrieve more troops and deliver them to the beach.
